I'm an MMA coach in Nor Cal, and this is by far the best striking book out there. Great combos. Great counterattacks. Anderson Silva has technique that blows every other fighter out of the water. He is a true tactician, and it shows in this book. Even his smallest movements are exact. I will use this book to help teach my students, for sure. Every guy who trains MMA needs to pick this up.

Ok, so I saw the book in the library and thumbed through it and was immediatly impressed by the pics and sections on each martial art.

The problem is there is no specific plan for each. Yes, he has a workout at the end which uses exercises from the whole book but if you dont want to add certain exercises or are training only in a specific area you are out of luck.

For example: If I am doing stand up training how many ab exercises does he recommend? I figured that somewhere in the book he would have say a Jiu Jitsu workout or a Muay Thai training regiment since he went to Thailand and took all those good pics. But alas he seems to be more interested in his total body workout regime which is fine but I wanted something more.
So I guess if you are a fighter arleady and looking for some different exercises this is a good pick up, but if you want some more guidance then I would definatly look at it at the book store before purchasing.

i picked this up for my husband since he's always looking for new workouts, and the martial arts angle seemed like it would add a different level of both physical and mental intensity. And of course i couldn't help but look through it myself! Understanding the philosophy of the arts was an added benefit to preparing for the workouts, which are . . . wow . . . challenging. The organization of the book makes it easy to follow each workout, and color pictures of each sequence of each exercise make this very user friendly.

In keeping with the trend from Victory Belt, this book doesn't let us down. This book covers the striking aspect mainly, but the best part is that it shows strikes from the striking range progressing into clinching, striking while in the clinch and then takedowns from the clinch. This is a very complete book, with a whole host of world class instructors such as Shawn Tompkins, Dave Camarillo and fighters like Karo Parisyan, Jon Fitch and Anuwat Kaewsamrit. Packed with high quality instruction, this book is amazing at the Amazon price. This will become a staple of any serious MMA competitor's collection.

Very few quality fights on this DVD, don't waste your time or money on this DVD. I liked the best of 2008 and 2007 UFC. But they really cut back on championship fights and quality of fights. This is my first time righting opinion on any product on amazon.com but I felt so mad for wasting My money on this product I had do something.

Just got my gloves and I can say that for the price they are worth it. I will get all the use out of these as I can and need. I see no problem using them for just about everything when it comes to training, I would even use these in a cage or ring. There easy to put on, stay in place and very versital. Good for someone who needs a multi task glove and doesn't have a lot to spend or just needs an extra pair. I would recommend them to someone that is wondering about buying some.

Also I have heard a few complaints about these gloves so let me give you a few tips. The main thing you have to remember about any glove is it takes a little time to get use to them, heres how most problems are easy to deal with. Inbetween your fingers I can see how they can be harsh, just a little athletic tape and maybe gauze till you break them in.Also the lack of wrist padding and support, just get a set of hand wraps. Novice ones can support the palm and wrist if wrapped good. Pro ones can cover most of the hand and take care of the fingerwebbing and help with support. Just use both or too pairs of one kind. More wraps means you can also cover more of the knuckles as well so if you are a beginner try for some heavy padded and extra protective gloves, then try these out. If you know what your doing then you don't have to read this.

Excellent look into Mixed Martial Arts. Kelly Crigger does a great job of not only getting involved in MMA itself, but also the minds and philosophies of the fighters. He spends time at many of best gyms in the country and shows firsthand what makes fighters tick. Great book that I highly recommend for any interested in MMA.

As someone not familiar with the sport of MMA, I bought this book because I have enjoyed the author's previous work. And boy, am I glad I picked this one up! Terrific writing illuminates the world of UFC and the fastest growing sport in the world; MMA.

Anyone currently a fan of Pat Miletich and his bloody yet thrilling escapades would do well to read "Blood", but the real winners are sports fans like myself who, until now, had turned up their noses at MMA. After reading the book and watching some highlights on YouTube, I am thoroughly impressed with the athleticism, dedication, and sportsmanship of the competitors.

Though it appears that UFC CEO Dana White is now in over his head in terms of controlling a billion dollar business, I see nothing but good things for the sport. Best to Miletich, the competitors of MMA, and, certainly, author L Jon Wertheim for their fine work.

Highly recommended to all sports fans!

Ex-Army Ranger Kelly Crigger produces an entertaining inside look at the growing world of MMA. MMA fans will likely find this book a delight. His approach is to visit and write about the top MMA training venues around the country, with some side trips to the US Army Combatives tournament, the IFL and UFC 79.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book and have only three criticisms, two quibbling, one more substantive.

First, the omission of Miletich Fighting Systems in Bettendorf, IA is huge. So many elite fighters come from there, it's astonishing that one can tour the top training venues and skip over Bettendorf. It's like writing about Olympic highlights from Beijing and not mentioning Michael Phelps.

Second, in the effort to be funny, Crigger over-uses some humor conventions. Someone is "as grim as an IRS agent on April 15th." He was out of it like a ... And on and on and on. Nearly every page has one of these would-be witticisms. Some are amusing but after a while it gets tiresome and repetitive, repetitive, repeti - oh, well, you get the idea.

Third, at times Crigger - the ex Army guy - feels obliged to explain in asides how various ,members of the training dojo correspond to the hierarchy of the US Army. Ok, so...? Why should the reader care? He is shoehorning his Army experience into the book in a way that does nothing to add to the story.

Don't get me wrong, though. This is a fun book and Crigger takes at once a respectful yet puckish approach to the world of MMA. He takes the sport seriously but not too seriously.

Even with these reservations, I WOULD recommend "Title Shot"!!
